Hey,
I know it's been quiet in here for a couple months. I went dark because I was finally building the thing I promised you when you signed up.
The welcome email said you'd get a free guide. For a while there I hadn't actually written it, and I didn't want to throw together something thin just to have sent it. So I took the time and did it properly. It's done.
It's called The Long Grind Playbook, twelve systems for doing hard things when no one handed you the map. Every chapter comes out of something real: the qual-exam months, a couple of lab setbacks that put me back at zero, the stretches where quitting honestly looked like the smart move. The whole book is the unglamorous, specific mechanics of how you actually keep going when you can't see the finish line. I left the motivational-poster language out on purpose.
Here it is, free:
If you've only got five minutes, start with Chapter 1. It's about how the task in front of you usually isn't the problem, it's that you're trying to see the whole thing at once. It did well enough on Medium that a publication picked it up, and it's still the idea I lean on most.
The Sunday letters start back up now. They'll be shorter from here on, just a few honest lines from me and the best of what I put out that week, so you're not hunting around to find it.
Thanks for sticking around through the quiet stretch. It's the reason I got to make this the right way.
